Ureter

The ureter is a muscular tube that carries urine from the renal pelvis to the bladder.

Tunica mucosa

It consists of a transitional epithelium (usually a few cuboidal cells, the surface cells are umbrella-shaped) and lamina propria, made up of sparse collagenous tissue (dense).

Tunica muscularis

It consists of two layers of smooth muscle: internal logitudinal, external circular. A third longitudinal layer occurs in the caudal third of the ureter.

Tunica adventitia

Made up of sparse collagen tissue with blood vessels and nerves.
