Logging in, creating a new account
Creating a new account isn’t obligatory, but we recommend it. Main advantages:
- you will have the possibility to observe if somebody edited „your“ pages
- you will be able to keep track of changes to pages you are interested in using
- some changes can be made from security reasons only by registered users
How to log in
- Click on log in link at the top right of the page
- Click on Create new account
You will need to provide a username and password. Real name, e-mail is optional and if you choose to provide it this will be used for giving you attribution for your work and it enables others to contact you through your user or user talk page without needing to reveal your identity.
Your e-mail address is hidden from other users – the others can send you a message, but only by using a special form on Wikiscripts. To automatically receive announcements about changes in your pages, you needed to check out your e-mail address.
“No fear”
Now you can log in by every connection to Wikilectures. And you can start to create. The most important motto sounds “no fear” In case you can’t do something, somoene else will. The most important is that every piece of your work can help the others.
Create new page or edit existing page
- Try editing existing articles to get a feel for writing and for using the mark-up language in use at Wikilectures. Also, try reading some of our better articles.
- Consider creating the article on your user page first. If you have a user id, (which you must have if you are considering creating a new article), you also have your own area (sandbox) to start working on a new article; you can get it in shape there, take your time, and only move it into the "live" Wikilectures once it is ready for prime time.
- Search Wikilectures first to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject, perhaps under a different title. If you find an existing article on your subject, it is best to redirect the name you were thinking of onto the existing article.
'Edit existing page – click on the edit this page tab on the top of Wikilectures page
This will bring you to a new page with a text box containing the editable text of the original page. You can start to write. The simplest editing forms are available above the text box. For more details see page - Editing . To see how the page looks with your edits, press the "Show preview" button. To see the differences between the page with your edits and the previous version of the page, press the "Show changes" button. If you're satisfied with what you see, be bold and press the "Save page" button. Your changes will immediately be visible to all Wikilectures users. More details Editing .
When you are finished editing, you should write a short edit summary in the small field below the edit-box. You may use shorthand to describe your changes, as described in the legend.
Be careful with copyrights
Everything you add to Wikilectures is immediately accessible to everybody who has internet connection. In most of cases author rules forbid to publish works which are related to copyrights without author’s permission.
By editing or creating of an article you also permitt editing, changing or deleting your article.
