Combitube is a double-lumen tube, used as an aid to secure the respiratory tract intended for non-physicians and physicians who cannot perform endotracheal intubation.
- The tube is inserted "blindly" through the oral cavity, it is supposed to be inserted into the esophagus. Two obturation cuffs must be inflated. One serves for obturation of the esophagus and the other for obturation of the pharynx. The combitube then enables artificial pulmonary ventilation to be carried out as needed.
