It is a heartbeat negatively perceived by the patient, unless there is an obvious reason for him (exertion, emotional arousal). It may indicate fast heart rhythm (hyperthyroidism, anemia,…), heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia). It also occurs in anxious individuals.
