Orcinol Orcinol, dihydroxytoluene, systematically 5-methylbenzene-1,3-diol is a yellowish crystalline substance, the reaction of which produces some dyes. In biochemistry, it is used in the analysis of saccharides, e.g. in the so-called Bial reaction.
