Centromeric index

Centromeric index is a value used in cytogenetics when describing chromosomes. It is calculated according to the position of the centromere as the ratio of the length of the short arm p to the length of the entire chromosome p+q. Based on this value, we divide chromosomes into metacentric, submetacentric, acrocentric, etc.

0,5–0,39	metacentric
0,38–0,26	submetacentric
0,25–0,13	acrocentric
0,12-0	telocentric
