Garden's classification ( I–IV ) describes femoral neck fractures according to the degree of their dislocation in the AP projection . In the head and metaphysis of the femur, the course of the beam and their mutual angle are evaluated.
- I – incomplete fracture (wedge, abduction[1]), direction of beams intact
- II – complete fracture, without dislocation, on X-ray complete interruption of the beams [1]
- III – complete fracture, partial dislocation, fragments joined, varus inclination of the head with displacement of the beam
- IV – complete fracture, complete dislocation, free fragments, head in the acetabulum, risk of avascular necrosis
