From WikiLectures

Nanocapsule is a spherical nanoparticle formed by two layers. Its core is dielectric, it can be made of, for example, silicon dioxide. The core is plated with a thin layer of conductive metal, typically gold. By changing the thickness of the conductive layer, we can precisely determine the electrical and optical properties of the nanocapsule.
