Borders[edit | edit source]
- Anterior - posterior of pharynx (buccopharyngeal fascia).
- Posterior - Alar fascia (layer of prevertebral deep cervical fascia).
- Lateral - Carotid sheath .
- Superior - Base of skull.
- Inferior - Superior mediastinum, at the point where alar fascia fuses with buccopharyngeal fascia (at the level of T4, carina).
