Name: Adrenal cortex HE

Description: The adrenal cortex consists of 3 layers: zona glomerulosa, zona fasciculata, zona reticularis. The cells are arranged in beams that form a ball in the zona glomerulosa, run parallel in the zona fasciculata and anastomosed in the zona reticularis.

Name: Adrenal cortex

Description: Adrenal cortex cells produce steroid hormones. Therefore, they do not contain secretory granules, but store lipids in vacuoles as a precursor of hormones. Lipofuscin granules (inclusions) can also be found in the cells of the zona reticularis.
