Agnosia

Agnosia (from Greek αγνῶσις a · gnosis , ie ignorance, ignorance) is the loss of the ability to understand meaning and recognize the meaning of different types of stimuli, which is not caused by damage to the relevant sensory system. E.g. in tactile agnosia it is not possible to perceive the shape and structure of objects by touch, although the perception of touch, position and other primary stimuli remains[1]. Similarly, for example, agnosia, auditory, olfactory, taste, positional, temporal, topographic, agnosia for painful stimuli and others are described.
Agnosia can be the result of, for example, a stroke, dementia, trauma after a brain injury or other neurological disorder.
