Alkalosis (signpost)

Alkalosis is a disorder of acid-base balance in which the [pH]] rises above the physiological limit (the physiological value of pH is 7.36–7.45).
- Respiratory alkalosis - caused by increased output of CO2.
- Metabolic alkalosis – caused by H+ losses (eg vomiting), new formation or increased intake of HCO3-.
