Basic models of healthcare systems

Healthcare systems can be divided into two basic models according to the method of payment for the provided health care:
- Insurance-based health systems:
- public (compulsory) health insurance – Bismarckian model of health care;
- private (voluntary) health insurance – liberal model of healthcare (market healthcare).
- State health care' (health care paid for by public funds, taxes) - national health service:
- Beveridge model;
- Semaška's model.
