Bromocriptine

Bromocriptine is a derivative of ergot alkaloids that acts as a dopaminergic agonist because it has a dopamine-like molecule in its structure. It directly stimulates dopaminergic receptors in the CNS. It is used in the treatment of parkinsonism. It can be effective when levodopa therapy fails or can be combined with it. Furthermore, bromocriptine is used to reduce prolactinemia levels.
