The Bunsen burner is a gas burner in which the feed gas mixes with atmospheric oxygen . It is named after the German chemist RW Bunsen.

It is advisable to close the air supply before lighting the burner.

Different types of burner flame depending on the air flow through the burner neck. 1. Air vent closed, 2. slightly open, 3. half open, 4. fully open.
