Classification of silicone impressions according to consistency
From WikiLectures
Silicone impression materials]] can be divided into four categories according to their consistency. The different stiffness of individual types of impression materials allows us to make very accurate imprints, especially in the preparation of prosthetic work using the double imprint method or the double mixing method.
Categories[edit | edit source]
- Type 0 putty - mass high rigid
- Type 1 heavy body - solid mass
- Type 2 medium body - mass of medium consistency
- Type 3 light points - mass of thin consistency
Use[edit | edit source]
The figure shows an example of using two different stiffness of silicone impression material within one imprint. Here, the double imprinting method was used (green impression mass (Type 0/Type 1) forms a template for a thinner silicone cream (Type 2/Type 3), thanks to which we subsequently capture precise details in the imprint.
