From WikiLectures
- definition: chronic condition in which a rigid pericardium disables normal filling of heart with blood [1];
- consequence: decreased cardiac output and significant blood congestion in the liver;
- clinical image: shortness of breath, fatigue, later swelling of lower limbs, ascites, anorexia, weight loss, dyspepsia [1];
- in children it is very rare, in the past it was often connected with tbc inflammation;
- it is very difficult to distinguish this disability from restrictive cardiomyopathy.
