Cystocele

From WikiLectures

Cystocele exiting through the vagina in a 73-year-old female patient.

Cystocele is a descent of the base of the bladder arching into the vagina. In the case of bulging, we talk about pulse cystocele in the media. The cause is a rupture of the pubocervical fascia (endopelvic fascia). In case of bulging on the side of the vagina, we speak of a traction cystocele. The reason is a paravaginal defect, i.e. detachment of the pubocervical fascia from the arcus tendineus fasciae pelvis[1].
