Digastric Muscle
From WikiLectures
Beginning:
- venter posterior – incisura mastoidea ossis temporalis,
Attachment:
- venter anterior – fossa digastrica mandibulae.
Progress: The venter anterior and posterior merge into each other via a tendon that is attached to the corpus ossis hyoidei by a fibrous loop. This tendon pierces the attachment of the stylohyoideus muscle.
Innervation: r. digastricus (n. facialis) for venter posterior, n. mylohyoideus (n. mandibularis) for venter anterior.
Function: depression of the mandible with a fixed lingual, elevation of the lingual with a fixed mandible.
Origin: venter anterior – first branchial arch (its processus mandibularis), venter posterior – second (hyoid) branchial arch.
