E-test is a test used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of an antibiotic. It is a diagnostic strip in which the concentration of the drug gradually logarithmically decreases and a similar gradient is created by placing it in a Petri dish and on the nutrient medium. After incubation, a teardrop-shaped inhibition zone is created around the strip - at the point where the "drop" intersects the diagnostic strip, we read the required MIC. The method combines the advantages of a disk diffusion test (simple handling) with the possibility of determining the MIC. The disadvantage is the relatively high price.
