Fetal lung (histological slide)
From WikiLectures
- Fetal lungs contain significantly fewer alveoli compared to adult-type lungs, in some places they resemble a gland,
- the base of the epithelium originates from the endoderm of the foregut ,
- the basis of bronchioles and alveoli are terminal sacs (they are formed by the gradual division of bronchial buds),
- the cartilage base of the bronchi (arranged as a ring of clustered cells enveloped by the future perichondrium) and the vascular base originate fromthe mesenchyme.
