* Fetal lungs compared to lungs of adult type contain significantly fewer alveoli, in some places they resemble a gland,
- the base of the epithelium originates from the endoderm of the foregut,
- the basis of bronchioles and alveoli are terminal cams' (they are formed by the gradual division of bronchial buds),
- the cartilage base of the bronchi (arranged as a ring of accumulated cells enveloped by the future perichondrium) and the base of the vessels originate from the mesenchyme.
