Name: Fundus of stomach 50x HE
Description: The wall of stomach is made of 4 layers:lamina mucosa, (lamina submucosa), svalovinou (lamina muscularis externa) and lamina serosa (peritoneum). In this picture, lamina serosa is absent.
Specimen nr. 2[edit | edit source]
Name: Fundus of stomach PAS
Description: the inner surface of stomach (tunice mucosa) consists of simple cylindrical epithelium, which produces mucin. These cells also line gastric pits. Mucin is colored purple in this specimen. Beneath the gastric pits (foveolae gastricae) are gastric glands, which secrete into the pits.

Name: Fundus of stomach - glandulae gastricae propriae
Description: Gastric glands (glandulae gastriacae propriae) contain chief cells producing pepsinogen, parietal cells producing HCl and intrinsic factor (for producing B12 vitamin). Chief cells are basophilic (blue), parietal cells red and triangular in shape. Another cells, which are not visible here, are enteroendocrine and stem cells. At the base of the gland we can see mucinous cells.
