Genetic mapping in man
From WikiLectures
Term genetic mapping is usually used for mapping by linkage. Please refer to Q5 – genetic linkage, especially sections principle, measuring gene distance, ordering loci and genetic maps. Other means of mapping is physical mapping, which is described in Q68. So we have two ways how to chart genes (i.e. assignment of genes to individual chromosomes, then establishing order and distances between genes along the chromosome) – genetic (linkage) mapping and physical mapping.
