Heberden nodes
The Heberden's nodes are deformations of the distal interphalangeal joints of the hand (DIP). Together with the Bouchard nodules, they are a clinical and graphical sign of osteoarthritis.
Etiology[edit | edit source]
Some work suggests that these are not purely osteoproductive changes, but that they are involved with both bone and ligament.
X-ray findings[edit | edit source]
In correlation with the clinic, we find nodes most often on the dorsolateral margin of the distal interphalangeal joints of the hand. This is a sign of advanced osteoarthritis.
