Intercross

Intercross is the name for mutual crossing of individuals of the first filial (F1) generation, which gives rise to the second filial (F2) generation. Gene linkage can also be evaluated within the F2 generation; the advantage is that the crossing-over already took place within the previous (F1) generation. Linkage analysis in intercrosses is advantageous, for example, for the analysis of codominant alleles.
