From WikiLectures
Myocardial blood supply disorders[edit | edit source]
Important terms: anatomy of the coronary arteries, regulation of blood flow.
- Causes
- Increasing coronary artery resistance
- Functional: vasoconstriction
- shortening of diastole
- Anatomical: thickening of the vessel wall (atherosclerosis)
- thrombi, emboli
- Combination of both
- Decrease in driving pressure: drop in (diastolic) BP in the aorta
- increase in right atrial pressure
- Vasodilator treatment – stealing phenomenon
- Invasive treatment
Ischemic heart disease (IHD)[edit | edit source]
- Causes: Limited blood flow in coronary vessels
- Consequences of ischemia: impaired contractility, arrhythmia, angina pectoris, necrosis
- Manifestations of myocardial ischemia on EKG
- Biochemical manifestations of ischemia
- Symptoms
- Angina pectoris'
- Stable
- Unstable
- Prinzmetal's
- Heart-attack
- Subjective symptoms
- ECG: T inversion, ST elevation, deep Q
- Biochemical tests in acute myocardial infarction
- Possibly sudden death
- Principles of treatment and prevention
