Lymph Nodes and Collectors of Intestines

Small Intestine, Intestinum tenue
Duodenum
lymph from the upper half of the duodenum
- nodi lymphatici pylorici – located at the head of the duodenum;
- hepatic lymphatic nodes – along the hepatic a. propria;
- nodi lymphatici coeliaci – collects lymph directly or subsequently from the previous 2 groups;
lymph from the lower half of the duodenum
- nodi lymphatici mesenterici superiores – along the trunk of the superior mesenteric artery, at the point where it bridges the duodenum;
Lymphatic vessels go from the sinuses of the duodenal villi into the mucosa, submucosal ligament, and subserosa, where they form networks. They then collect sparser networks from the space between the two layers of muscle and form lymphatic collectors that go to the nodes.
Since the lymphatic vessels of the duodenum often anastomose and have different drainage directions, the rapid spread of a disease process, e.g. a tumor, occurs here.
Jejunum, Ileum
- nodi lymphatici mesenterici superiores – lymph nodes located in the mesentery along the branches of the superior mesenteric artery;
These nodes form rows in the mesentery:
- nodi juxtaintestinales – a series of nodes close to the intestine;
- intermediate nodes – irregular, in the middle of the height of the mesentery;
- nodi centrales – a series of nodes near the radix mesenterii, from which vessels go to the nodi lymphatici coeliaci or to the nodi lumbales , then to the ductus thoracicus ;
Lymphatic vessels pass from the sinuses of the jejunal and ileal villi into the mucosa, submucosal ligament, and subserosa, where they form networks. They then collect sparser networks from the space between the two layers of muscle and form lymphatic collectors that drain into the mesentery.
