The gene that encodes a membrane non-selective channel, called glycoprotein - P , is responsible for multi - drug resistance ( MDR ). It allows the cell to get rid of foreign substances. Increased MDR expression may be responsible for the resistance of cells to anti-tumor therapy. [1]
