Musculus opponens digiti minimi (hand)

Musculus opponens digiti minimi is a small triangular-shaped muscle of the hand that we would find hidden under m. abductor digiti minimi and m. flexor digiti minimi brevis. The name of the muscle does not quite match its function, as it performs adduction rather than opposition.
Beginning:
- hamulus ossis hamati, ulnar part of retinaculum musculorum flexorum
Attachment:
- ulnar side 5. metacarpus
Innervation:
- ramus profundus nervi ulnaris
Function:
- adduction of the little finger (oppositional influence is minimal)
