Mylohyoid

Beginning: Linea mylohyoidea mandibulae.
Attachment: The front surface of the corpus ossis hyoidei, raphe mylohyoidea – a thin strip of ligament that connects it to the same muscle on the other side.
Innervation: N. mylohyoideus (n. mandibularis).
Function: Elevation of the lingual, depression of the mandible.
Origin: Processus mandibularis of the first branchial (gill) arch.
Variation: Absence of a muscle, or its connection with surrounding muscles.
