Osteomyelitis cranii
From WikiLectures
Osteomyelitis cranii is an infection of the bone plate, most often occurring after surgery. Penetrating injuries to soft lbi covers with bone injuries also pose a great risk, and spontaneous transition in sinus infections is also possible.
Causing agents[edit | edit source]
Therapy[edit | edit source]
- Osteomyelitis is very difficult to treat with ATB alone, usually requiring surgical revision with removal of the bone plate and excision of the infected bone.
- We continue in 2-4 months of ATB treatment, cranioplasty (bone replacement newly created from polymeric material / Ti lattice) until the infection is completely cured.
