Petechiae
From WikiLectures
Petechiae are tiny blood outgrowths in the skin the size of a pinprick, often appearing as multiple dots on the skin - purpura . They do not protrude above the surface of the skin and do not fade when pressed. They appear as a result of a decrease in the resistance of the capillary walls (congenital, immunological, toxic, caused by hypovitaminosis C) and platelet disorders ( thrombocytopenia , thrombocytopathy ).
