Pickwickian syndrome

Pickwick syndrome is a condition in which hypoventilation occurs due to extreme obesity. Carbon dioxide builds up in the body and causes excessive sleepiness, which is especially noticeable during the day. There is general respiratory insufficiency, as well as cardiac involvement. In the context of obesity, it often occurs together with sleep apnea syndrome.
