Platysma

Beginning: fascia pectoralis et deltoidea.
Attachment: the lower edge of the mandible (pars mandibularis), the lateral part of the lower lip (pars labialis), the subcutaneous tissue of the cheek and the corner of the mouth (pars modiolaris).
Innervation: n. facialis (VII.) (ramus colli).
Function: skin tension control (in the elderly, eyelid), synergist of labium inferius facial muscles.
Origin arises from the 2nd embryonic gill arch.
