Term
Eukaryotic promoter structure variant

A promoter is a DNA sequence that contains information about the start of transcription. RNA-polymerase recognizes this section and then binds to it. After binding, the structure of the double-helix unwinds into single-stranded sections. One of these strands serves as a template. Based on the complementarity of the bases to the coding strand of DNA, an RNA strand is synthesized.
