Raoult's laws

From WikiLectures

Raoult's first law[edit | edit source]

Δp = pressure difference, p0 = original pressure, n2 = number of solute particles, n1 = number of solvent particles.

Raoult's second law[edit | edit source]

Dissolving a substance in a solvent increases its boiling point.

Ke = solvent ebullioscopic constant, cm = solute concentration.

Raoult's third law[edit | edit source]

Dissolving a substance in a solvent lowers its freezing point.

Kr is the cryoscopic constant of the solvent.
