Reconstruction of the upper lip
From WikiLectures
- Nasolabial transposition lobe or bilateral V-Y shift
- for minor defects
- Abbe's lobe
- by twisting the tissue of the lower lip
- Lateral shift
- with the loss of around 40% of the upper lip, especially its lat. parts
- "Zisser-Madden method" (lateral shift with removal of the lower lip triangle)
- when central reconstruction is needed, lateral shift with bilateral perialar excisions is used
- Karapandzic's method
- Combination
- in practice, it is most suitable to "combine" the previous methods of reconstruction
- With complete loss of the upper lip
- tissue transfer through the bridging lobe from the neck (according to Tzura)
- V- lobe from the forehead + hairline, supplied with branches of a.temporalis (according to Wilson)
- both operations two-stage (lobe to the defect → acquires vascularization at the transfer site → detachment of the lobe)
