Regio scapularis

The regio scapularis is one of three regions located at the junction of the upper limb with the trunk; lateral to it is the deltoid region.

- corresponds to the circumference of the scapula

Main structures[edit | edit source]
- paddle
- muscles on the dorsal surface of the scapula:
- supraspinatus muscle , infraspinatus muscle , teres minor muscle , teres major muscle
Tangible structures[edit | edit source]
- spina scapulae
- medial edge of the scapula
- caudal angle of the scapula
Fascia[edit | edit source]
- aponeurotically strengthened supraspinatus and infraspinatus fascia (they help to delimit the osteofascial spaces , together with the scapula)
- superficial fascia on the trapezius muscle
Surface and fiber[edit | edit source]
- skin – strong and flexible; fixed just above the spina scapulae
- fatty tissue in the subcutaneous tissue
Holes[edit | edit source]
- incisura scapulae – closed lig. transverse scapulae; n. suprascapularis runs under the lig. transversum scapulae in contrast to the vasa suprascapularia running above the ligament
- foramen omotricipitale – vasa circumflexa scapulae runs here
- foramen humerotricipitale – axillaris nerve and vasa circumflexa humeri posteriorpass here

- m. trapezius
- n. accessorius (running caudally under the trapezius muscle)
- m. subscapularis (on the front surface of the scapula)
