Replicon

A replicon is a region of nucleic acid that replicates from a single origin.
The larger the DNA molecule, the larger the replicon. Most replicons are found in rapidly multiplying cells (embryonic tissue). The age of replicons decreases, that is, the part of the DNA molecule that is replicated from one replication origin increases.
