Reproduction of Bacteria[edit | edit source]
- Reproduction of bacteria is asexual.
- Reproduce via binary fission (A cell splits into two, creating identical copies of itself).
The steps involved in binary fission:
- Replication - Making an exact duplicate of its chromosome
- Then bacterium begin to elongate and pinch off at the center
- Chromosome moves to opposite sides
- Cell wall grows to fill in the pinched gap at the center
- Separation of the two identical cells.
