Compound joint - inserted discus articularis
Structure: Interfaces[edit | edit source]
Head – facies articularis sternalis of the clavicles .
Jamka – incision of the clavicle on the handle of the sternum .
Joint capsule[edit | edit source]
Stiff, short, reinforced by ligaments.
Strengthening ligaments[edit | edit source]
- ligamentum sternoclaviculare anterius et posterius – attached closely to the capsule in front and behind;
- ligamentum interclaviculare – connects both clavicles;
- ligamentum costoclaviculare – connects the clavicle to the 1st rib.
Movements[edit | edit source]
In all directions on a small scale.

- internal thoracic artery (or a. thoracica sup.)
- Nerves
- nn. medial supraclavicularis, n. subclavius
