Submental triangle

The submental triangle is a smaller triangular region in the middle of the anterior triangle of the neck. Through the middle of this region, it is possible to surgically penetrate deep into the tongue without the risk of damaging larger vascular or nervous structures.
Boundary[edit | edit source]
- ventrally – protuberantia mentalis (chin);
- dorsally – hyoid bone;
- laterally and medially – anterior belly of the digastric muscle;
- base is formed by mylohyoid muscle.
