Syndroma canalis Guyoni
From WikiLectures
Guyon's canal syndrome is characterized by distal compression of the ulnar nerve in the wrist region (Guyon's canal, lig. pisohamatum).
- Compression may be of the common nerve trunk or only the deep motor branch or the sensory ramus superficialis (clinical signs),
- m. flexor carpi ulnaris and deep finger flexors are never affected (unlike cubital canal syndrome),
- EMG examination is an important dg. tool to localize the lesion,
- surgical treatment consists in releasing the nervus ulnaris.
