Xanthoma

A harmless deposits of cholesterol which resemple Yellowish border on the skin. This often happens around the joints and on the palms near the tendons. It is rather soft when touch rather than tender. They can be of different sizes. They tend to be associated with disorders of fat metabolism, hyperlipoproteinemia, familial hypercholesterolemia and biliary obstruction, due to the presence of very high levels of cholestrerol in these pathologies. Bear in mind that here the suffix -om suffix is not associated with benign tumors.Xanthoma is harmless, but not its cause of high levels of fats and cholesterol.
