Template:Infobox - virus A group of viruses that attack cattle, dogs, horses, mice and birds in addition to humans. 41 human serotypes are known.[1]
The group is divided into two genera:
- mastadenovirus,
- aviadenovirus.
Virion[edit | edit source]
The virion is 70-90 nm large, resistant to ether, sensitive to chlorine and its derivatives.
Diseases[edit | edit source]
- Acute diseases of the respiratory tract – pharyngitis, fever, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia or pneumonia.
- Conjunctivitis – mostly in summer (possible water transfer).
- Diseases of the digestive system – mesenteric adenitis or diarrhea.
Pathogenesis[edit | edit source]
- Gate of entry: mucous membranes of the respiratory and digestive tract, conjunctiva.
Diagnostics[edit | edit source]
- Isolation – from the conjunctival sac, nasopharyngeal secretion, from urine on cell cultures;
- ELISA.
Epidemiology[edit | edit source]
Virus spreads as droplet infection - secretions from infected mucous membranes. Less often through urine and faeces.
