Anterior thigh region
From WikiLectures
The anterior compartment of thigh contains muscles which extend the knee and flex the hip and the femur. It is separated from the posterior compartment by the lateral intermuscular septum and from the medial compartment by the medial intermuscular septum. It contains the sartorius muscle (the longest muscle in the human body) and the quadriceps femoris(formed by vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius and rectus femoris). Blood supply comes from the femoral artery. Sartorius is innervated by the medial branch of the anterior division of femoral nerve and quadriceps femoris is innervated by the posterior division of the femoral nerve. The femoral triangle and iliopectineal fossa are also located within its borders.
