Somogyi phenomenon

Somogyi phenomenon [somogy phenomenon] refers to a condition in which posthypoglycemic hyperglycemia occurs.
- It is caused by an exaggerated response of counterregulatory hormones (glucagon, catecholamines, somatotropin, cortisol).
- It occurs in diabetics treated with insulin.
- It is more common in children.
