Vasoconstriction
From WikiLectures
Narrowing of the blood vessel
Principle[edit | edit source]
The principle is the contraction of the smooth muscle in the vessel wall.
Substances with a vasoconstrictive effect[edit | edit source]
- Endothelin I,
- tromboxane A2,
- angiotensin II,
- norepinephrine (α1-receptors),
- tromboxane,
- serotonin,
- vasopressin-ADH,
- other α1 receptor stimulators.
Use in the body[edit | edit source]
- Local regulation of tissue blood flow (response to hypoxia in the pulmonary basin - the so-called Euler-Liljestrand mechanism, reaction to cold, etc.)
- stop bleeding,
- regulation Mean arterial pressure.
