Antithrombin III

From WikiLectures

Antithrombin:

A) Antithrombin Molecule; B) Heparin-bound antithrombin

Antithrombin III is a glycoprotein produced in the liver. It is an anticoagulant that inactivates thrombin and some other coagulation factors (IX, X, XI and XII). The anticoagulant effect of antithrombin III is multiplied in the presence of heparin , with which antithrombin III forms complexes.
